The Merchant Mariners of Wight, an association which has the aim of bringing together like-minded people with a maritime background, for the purpose of comradeship, social and charitable activities, and to promote the good name and image of Mariners and the Merchant Navy, past, present and future.
We do this by arranging regular social events and talks on subjects of interest to our members. See the events section below for further details:
Since being formed in 2000 the association aim has been to provide a place where people with similar interests can share experiences and continue to maintain an interest in the industry or, whilst at the same time endeavouring to assist the wider community by providing financial assistance to various marine related charities. Meetings take place regularly throughout the year, where all members and their partners are welcome to attend.
The format of our meetings usually comprise a lunch followed by a talk. The talks cover a wide range of subjects, from the historical, present day and technical with the common theme that they may be considered to be linked to maritime activities.
Membership is open to anybody who may have served at sea or may have an interest in joining an active marine community.
If you are interested in joining us, information about membership together with the application form can be found via the button below or by contacting the membership secretary.
